Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
